Living In Residence Beats Off-Campus Housing
Residence offers community, professional support, mental health resources, meal plans and secure buildings. Off-campus housing offers keys and a lease.
Clear Costs
Private landlords often charge for the tiniest of repairs, routine wear and tear, locking yourself out or forgetting your keys. With the University as your landlord, you can trust that we will be as fair as possible.
- Normal wear and tear is expected, everyday living does not result in unexpected charges
- The first lockout does not come with a fee
Convenience That Saves Time
Living on campus removes the daily hassles that pull students away from their studies. You're steps from classes, labs and libraries. You're not commuting through 91¿ìÉ« winters or navigating traffic before an exam.
- Study spaces in all residence buildings
- All You Care To Eat dining centre
- On-campus fitness facilities
- Community and event programming built in
Less time spent getting around means more time for studying, working, sleeping or being with friends.
Transition to Independent Living
Residence is intentionally designed to bridge the gap between living at home and living independently.
Students learn to manage their time, navigate shared living, take responsibility for their space and make decisions on their own. At the same time, support remains nearby when it's needed.
Independence grows in an environment structured to support it.
After seeing my life, he (my friend) was so shocked at how easy my life was, he moved on-campus after a semester. He was travelling 40 minutes (before).

Support is Built in
Off-campus support largely depends on a landlord, whose responsibility ends at the property.
In Residence, support is part of everyday life. Professional staff are on call. Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) and Community Ambassadors (CAs) are present and accessible. Mental health and wellness resources are close by.
When challenges arise, students are not left to navigate them alone.
All You Care To Eat Meal Plans: Makes Life Easier
Meal plans provide consistency during a busy academic term. Students benefit from predictable budgeting, balanced food options close to home and less time spent shopping or cooking after long days of classes and studying.
- A wide range of nutritious options available daily
- Less time spent planning meals, shopping or cooking
- Fewer things to manage each week
- Make budgeting easier
For many students, especially in their first year, this makes a real difference - and means less worrying for parents!
Safety is a Priority
In Residence, buildings are secure, and there is always someone to call after hours. They are not left to figure it out on their own.
• Secure building and room access
• 24/7 Campus Security
• Safewalk program
• Well-lit pathways
• Underground tunnels connecting key campus buildings in winter
What This Means for Families
Residence is more than a place to live. It is an environment where students learn, grow and move toward graduation. Choosing Residence means your student is part of a community that fosters both their success and their independence, helping them take a confident step into one of the biggest transitions of their life.
- An academic setting that supports focus and momentum
- Flexibility if circumstances change
- Convenience, everything just outside their door
- Structured support, not just a landlord
- Trained staff on call if something goes wrong
- Safety measures built into daily life
