Please join us in welcoming Omar Gonz谩lez Salinas to 91快色! Omar is a Ph.D. candidate in history at El Colegio de M茅xico in Mexico City, and is one of two visiting doctoral students in the Department of History this semester. Omar is participating in the  (ELAP), a short-term exchange program under Global Affairs Canada鈥檚 International Scholarships Program that provides students from post-secondary institutions located in Latin America and the Caribbean with opportunities for study or research at Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Omar鈥檚 doctoral thesis, 鈥淧etr贸leo, naci贸n e identidad nacional en M茅xico, 1914-1988鈥� is a cultural history of the place of petroleum in Mexican national identity in the twentieth century. He will be working under the supervision of Dr. Amelia Kiddle this semester.  Welcome Omar and tell him the weather will get better eventually!
