Law professor鈥檚 book shortlisted for Donner鈥疨rize
Every year the Donner Canadian Foundation has hundreds of nominations for its prize that recognizes excellence in public policy thinking, writing, and research by Canadians. The prize strives to encourage authors to make their mark in the industry with their original knowledge and perspectives on non-fiction topics.
Bryce Tingle鈥檚 book, Hard Lessons in Corporate Governance, dives into issues with Canada鈥檚 corporate governance structure and the subsequent effects it has on the Canadian economy. Drawing on information from hundreds of empirical studies, the book assesses how changes in corporate governance over the years have shaped outcomes for businesses. 鈥淲hat this nomination means is that I鈥檓 not alone and that other people think this is a really serious problem too, and that it鈥檚 important to solve,鈥 said Tingle.
Tingle is excited to have been nominated, 鈥淭he Donner Prize is the biggest non-fiction award in Canada and by far鈥痶he biggest award for policy books in鈥疌anada. They had nearly 100 books that were nominated and only 5 were shortlisted, so I鈥檓 tremendously grateful that I was one of those books,鈥 he said.
